Introducing the National Geographic Islander II

Okay, so traveling to the Galapagos Islands sounds pretty cool … but traveling there with National Geographic? Now, that’s even cooler! You can experience this awe-inspiring archipelago by sailing with the experts in expedition cruising. Through our nearly 20-year alliance with Lindblad Expeditions, we’ve taken travelers to some of the most far-reaching and breathtaking places on the planet!

And today, we’re celebrating the fleet’s newest ship, the National Geographic Islander II. This 48-passenger expedition vessel sails year-round in the islands and features teak decks that gracefully connect the indoor and outdoor spaces, a Science Hub, a well-outfitted observation deck, indoor-outdoor dining options and 26 large and airy suites. Designed for active exploration, the ship carries a fleet of kayaks, stand-up paddleboards, a custom-built glass bottom Zodiac and a flotilla of versatile Mark V Zodiacs to provide plenty of adventure and exploration.

Sound amazing? Check out this video tour of the ship, and you may just spot some stunning wildlife along the way. After all, you’re in the Galapagos!

And did you know that young travelers on an expedition cruise throughout Alaska, Antarctica, Baja California or the Galapagos Islands can take part in the National Geographic Global Explorers Program? Developed with National Geographic Education, this hands-on, interactive program inspires kids to embrace their inner explorer and teaches them how to develop the attitudes, skills and knowledge of an explorer through fun activities.
