The Kansas City Chiefs are once again celebrating a Super Bowl championship. And for Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes the festivities will take him on a magical journey to The Happiest Place on Earth!
That’s right! I’m thrilled to share with you that Mahomes is headed to Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California.
Our camera crews were on the field immediately after the big game in Arizona as confetti rained down and Mahomes shouted the most magical words in sports: “I’M GOING TO DISNEYLAND!”
The iconic phrase is the centerpiece of Disney’s famous Super Bowl commercial airing on social media sites and major TV networks nationwide.
Mahomes joins a stellar list of NFL Hall of Famers and football megastars who have participated in Disney’s long-standing Super Bowl tradition. The campaign started after Super Bowl XXI in 1987, when New York Giants quarterback Phil Simms was named the MVP and shouted the famous phrase.
Mahomes helped lift the Chiefs to a 38-35 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LVII by throwing for three touchdowns. Kansas City trailed by ten points at halftime and was still down six at the end of the third quarter. But Mahomes threw two of his three touchdowns in the fourth to lead the Chiefs comeback and secure the second championship in the last four years for Kansas City. This was also the first Super Bowl featuring two Black starting quarterbacks, Patrick Mahomes for the Chiefs and Jalen Hurts for the Eagles.
Chiefs fans will now get to see one of their favorite stars in a colorful and high-energy cavalcade through Disneyland park.* If you plan on being in the park on Monday, make sure you join the celebration on the parade route from “it’s a small world” all the way down to Main Street, U.S.A., at 1:30 p.m. PT.
Before the cavalcade, Mahomes, along with family and friends, will enjoy an unforgettable day filled with popular theme park attractions, toe-tapping entertainment and beloved Disney characters. And this year, Disneyland Resort is joining in the celebration of Disney’s 100th anniversary, honoring its incredible storytellers, creators and fans. The celebration, now in full swing, features a new attraction, two stunning new nighttime spectaculars, dazzling décor, limited-time food and beverage offerings and more!
