It’s no surprise the word “families” is synonymous with Walt Disney World Resort! Families of all sizes enter these magical gates each day, ready to celebrate in their own way. I mean, Walt Disney did create Disney theme parks so parents and children could have fun together!
Just like at Walt Disney World Resort, family adventures of all sizes are abundant on Disney+, and on March 18th, the Disney+ family expanded to include a fresh take on a classic family comedy, “Cheaper by the Dozen!”
In this all-new Disney+ original film, you can experience the story of the raucous exploits of a blended family of 12, the Bakers, as they navigate a hectic home life while simultaneously managing their family business.
To honor the release of “Cheaper by the Dozen,” we’re compiling a list of must-do experiences at Walt Disney World Resort that are perfect for families during the 50th Anniversary celebration!
Experience #1: Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure at EPCOT
C’est magnifique! Families love seeing everyone’s favorite “Petite Chef” at EPCOT! Opening the kitchen doors during the Walt Disney World 50th Anniversary celebration, families can shrink and scurry on their own culinary adventure based on the Disney and Pixar film “Ratatouille.”
Recently, Kyrie Mcalpin and Andre Robinson, two co-stars from “Cheaper by the Dozen,” popped by to say bonjour to Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure on their trip to Walt Disney World Resort!
Experience #2: Classic Disney Attractions, Magic Kingdom Park
For the last 50 years, Magic Kingdom Park has been a place where fantasy reigns for both the young and young at heart. For my family, we never miss our favorite attractions, such as Haunted Mansion, Pirates of the Caribbean, and Jungle Cruise! Many families have traditions at Magic Kingdom, and several include family-favorite attractions such as “it’s a small world”, Dumbo the Flying Elephant, and Mad Tea Party! Which classic Walt Disney World attraction is your family tradition?
Experience #3: Drawn to Life by Cirque du Soleil at Disney Springs
Families can set their imagination in motion with Drawn to Life – a love letter to the art of Disney animation! Watch in wonder as the beauty of Disney animation blends with the thrilling spectacle of Cirque du Soleil. Experience #4: Kilimanjaro Safaris at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park
Families can set off on a guided tour of an African savanna – and spot live animals who call this place home! This truly wild adventure is home to 34 species living in 110 acres of picturesque plains, forest landscapes, and rocky wetlands.
What did the safari guide say about the herd of giraffes? Now that’s what I call a giraffic-jam! Every family has a good dad joke or two!
Experience #5: Stay in the magic with Disney Resorts Collection
Half of the magic of Walt Disney World Resort is found in the Resort hotels. Families of all ages are invited to experience the Disney Resorts Collection, unique Disney Resort hotels that feature the same legendary storytelling and guest service found in the theme parks. At Disney Resort hotels, families just don’t play in the magic, they stay in the magic!
Experience #6: Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway at Disney’s Hollywood Studios
Hot dog! Hop aboard one of my favorite attractions and join Mickey and Minnie on a zany adventure through a cartoon universe crammed with surprises and a new original song. Did I mention Goofy is your train engineer? What could possibly go wrong?
Experience #7: Pandora – The World of Avatar at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park
Together, families can discover a beautiful land that celebrates the magic of nature. Venture on two adventurous expeditions on Na’vi River Journey or Avatar Flight of Passage. At all times of the day, hike amid floating mountains in the valley of Mo’ara, where glowing flora & fauna are abundant!
Experience #8: “Harmonious” at EPCOT
“Harmonious,” the all-new nighttime spectacular at EPCOT, has become a family favorite of mine since its debut during the Walt Disney World 50th Anniversary celebration! Experience and discover how Disney music and stories have the power to bring families together from across the globe through spine-tingling music and awe-inspiring visual effects.
Experience #9: Toy Story Land at Disney’s Hollywood Studios
Reach for the sky and let your adventure begin at Toy Story Land! This larger-than-life location is packed with adventures for kids and grown-ups alike. Take a wild ride on Slinky Dog Dash or power up for an interstellar romp through space on Alien Swirling Saucers. One of my family favorites is munching on some of Andy’s favorites and classic kid treats at Woody’s Lunch Box.
Experience #10: World of Disney Shopping at Disney Springs
Nothing says family bonding time like shopping. Visit the ultimate shopping destination for Disney fans at World of Disney – it’s the largest Disney retail store in the world! You’ll find a masterfully curated collection like none other, including the EARidescent 50th Anniversary celebration merchandise!
Experience #11: Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park
Surf’s up, dude! Families can discover a tropical paradise unlike any other at Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park, and it’s drenched in Disney magic! From thrills to numerous ways to chill, there’s something for everyone, including North America’s largest wave pool. Also, park reservations are not currently required, so you can be flexible and spontaneous with your schedule!
Experience #12: “Disney Enchantment” at Magic Kingdom Park
For many families, no Disney day is complete without the sights and sounds of fireworks above the elegant Cinderella Castle. Just in time for the Walt Disney World 50th Anniversary celebration, the all-new “Disney Enchantment” firework spectacular is a heart-felt display of magic and empowerment. For the first time, immersive projection effects can be seen on Cinderella Castle extending all the way down Main Street U.S.A. I think you’ll come to find the magic has been inside you all along!
Experience #13: The Baker’s Dozen, Whispering Canyon Café at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge
In line with the all-new film, “Cheaper by the Dozen,” we had to add a “Baker’s Dozen,” (which is actually 13) to the list! Some of the most cherished family moments happen around the dinner table, and what better way to experience family dining than at Walt Disney World Resort!
For families looking for fabulous home cookin’ with a side of shenanigans, gallop on over to Whispering Canyon Café at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge! Chow down on fine frontier fare, including delicious baked goods such as buttermilk-cheddar biscuits and Mickey-shaped waffles for breakfast, or freshly-baked cornbread for lunch and dinner, all served with hearty all-you-care-to-enjoy skillets for the whole family. Whispering Canyon Café is a personal family tradition, and I’m sure it’ll become a tradition for you too, partner!
