Magical moments happen all the time at Walt Disney World Resort for our guests thanks to the talented cast members who bring joy and happiness to all they do.
As a cast member, I’ve experienced too many magical moments to count both at work and as a guest, but my family’s recent visit to the Harmony Barber Shop at Magic Kingdom Park will be a core memory for me forever!
Reservations will be opening tomorrow on June 28, and opening day is July 31.
My son is 1½ and needed his very first haircut. Taking him to the Most Magical Place on Earth for that big milestone was something I have been dreaming about since he was born!
My husband and I met while working at Walt Disney World, and we’ve celebrated everything from birthdays to our engagement to family vacations at Disney Parks. We always knew that someday taking our own child to have their first haircut at this iconic barbershop was a #DisneyCastLife must-do.
When we had the opportunity to have one of the very first haircuts at Harmony Barber Shop before the location reopens, we couldn’t have been more excited. It was truly a magical moment – a dream come true!
From the time we arrived, our cosmetologist Diane created a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Diane had Mickey Mouse stickers, fun toys and bubbles to keep my son entertained while she gave him the most adorable first haircut! She had him giggling right away.
Since it was announced that reservations would be opening on June 28 for Harmony Barber Shop, my fellow cast members across Walt Disney World Resort have been sharing their own haircut memories from one of these cherished barbershop chairs.
“My son, Derrick, hammed it up to the cast members and sat perfectly still the entire time,” Joe, a software engineer at Walt Disney World, shared. “That one haircut remains the one and only time he’s sat still for a haircut in his life.”
Whether it’s your first time visiting Harmony Barber Shop or your tenth, there is no telling how memorable the experience will be. For many, this location has become a regular rite of passage, including Brie, a manager of communications at Walt Disney World Resort.
“My first-born, Grant, got his very first haircut in February 2020 … little did I know I was pregnant with his baby brother at the time!” she shared.
The cast members at Harmony Barber Shop are truly who make the world’s most magical haircuts, and we’re so excited to welcome them home soon!
